Prince William and Kate Middleton have had a quieter year in terms of international travel, mainly due to Kate’s battle with cancer, diagnosed in early 2024.
During this time, Kate focused on recovery, allowing the family to spend more time together at home. These months have been a chance for the family to bond, but they are aware that their roles as senior royals will soon pull them back into a demanding schedule of official duties and travel.
The global pandemic had previously offered the family an unexpected period of staying in the UK, with limited travel. Despite the world opening up again, their travel schedule remained reduced as Kate continued her treatment.
While Prince George and Princess Charlotte have traveled with their parents for royal duties, Prince Louis has not yet taken part in any significant trips.
Being away from their children, even briefly, has been emotionally difficult for William and Kate. Kate, in particular, struggled with the separation, especially during a royal tour in 2022. Despite this, the couple remains determined to involve their children in royal life.
Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, have played a crucial role in helping care for the children during Kate’s recovery, providing stability and support.
